EDM - Electronic Dance Music
Electronic dance music has been hitting the dance floors ever since it was created and made famous some time in the 1980's. This type of music was meant to be played in nightclubs and discos. The electronic dance music was created by the continuous manipulation of a DJ set or turntable. This mixing and altering by disc jockeys soon gave birth to different sub-genres of electronic dance music. Over the years, terms like Techno, Trance, and Dubstep have become part of dance-based entertainment in many parts of the world. Electronic dance music has once again given birth to another sub-genre that is sure to blow listeners and dancers away. So wear your dancing shoes and say hello to Moombahton.
Dave Nada - Moombahton
What is Moombahton?
This sub-genre of electronica was created when Afrojack's remix of "Moombah" was slowed down near the tempo of reggaeton, which is a form of music originally from Puerto Rico. The people on the dance floor loved it and Moombahton was born. This was originally Dutch house music played in a reggaeton's slow tempo. It may be easy to associate it with other sub-genres of electronic dance music but it is not difficult to tell it apart. Dave Nada, the creator of moombahton, describes his new found music as a "mid-tempo global bass music". If you listen closely, it is a mixture of different genres of dance music but its main inspiration is reggaeton, which has a tempo that is close to moombahton's 108 beats per minute. The music is very versatile but there is that distinct sound in moombahton that makes you want to lose yourself on the dance floor. This new genre of music will surely uplift good vibes no matter how down and lonely you are.

Nada's Eureka Moment
Dave Nada, armed with his DJ set and dirty Dutch house music, set out to provide dance music at his cousin's house party. He was surprised to learn that the crowd was crazy about reggaeton. Nada had to think fast and decided to play his Dutch house music, a song called "Moombah", in a beat that was close enough to reggaeton's tempo. He was hopeful that it would work out but what happened next was magic. The crowd went wild and everyone headed to the dance floor to enjoy how big "Moombah" sounded when it was slowed down to 108 bpm. This eureka moment paved the way for Nada to create a sub-genre called moombahton.
